When Soccer America magazine was gathering information to rank the top youth soccer tournaments in the country, a trend started to develop -- the same tournament kept appearing at the top of every category: Disney’s Soccer Showcase.

Many Americans tune into Major League Baseball, preseason NFL Football and the X-Games on ESPN for recreational enjoyment. But, what if I told you that there is another sport that includes all of the excitement, drama and passion that is closely related to these sports. Well, there is, and you might be surprised to know it is right in your own backyard.

There were 128 teams of doubles volleyball players, 27 courts used near the pier at Hermosa Beach, California, 6 divisions based on age in the girls’ field and 0 places left to sit on "The Strand" to watch the championships. See how these numbers add up to the country’s largest youth beach volleyball tournament at the 12th annual AAU National Championships of juniors beach volleyball.
