Greed in sports: Are we killing the goose?

In spite of a revenue sharing system, those record profits aren't good enough for many NFL owners. It makes you wonder if it is in the long-term interest of the league to ensure that average working class fans can only afford to go to at least one game a year. Recent economic events should have taught us that no industry is immune from economic disaster. Has the sports industry arrogantly assumed fan loyalty for too long? Are they about to kill the goose who lays the golden eggs?
My family loves sports and we compete with each other in a number of sports related competitions throughout the year. Will this be the year they finally hand a loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes, something they haven't done since 2003? This year, there may just be hope for the Wolverines after all.

Contract dispute turns nasty in New England

With the NFL's uncapped-salary year fully underway, the harsh reality of the restricted free agent situation is beginning to take shape and player frustrations are boiling over.
The back story of this year's Super Bowl is the matchup between Peyton Manning and Drew Brees. One is a native son of New Orleans, and the other is an adopted son. Both promise to do great things for the city.
