Let your answering machine take your calls, turn off your instant messaging program, and blog this -- week seven is over and oh what a week it was.

While first place Pittsburgh got the week off, the Baltimore Ravens showed why defense wins championships.

The Cleveland Browns played their first overtime game of the year against the Eagles, and well, it showed.

Finally, down in the Jungle, they were calling it ?Miracle Monday? before it even started, and by the time it ended they were right as Cincinnati defeated Denver.

With the trade deadline approaching, the Browns traded away one unproven wide receiver for another, while ?primetime? made the most of the limelight with Jamal Lewis being sidelined.

Monday nights victory poised a strange nerve reaction in Chad Johnson?s mouth as he promised the Jungle a playoff run after winning only their second game of the season.

As I watched this week unfold I couldn?t help but imagine the Steelers sitting around and laughing as they viewed the spectacle known as the AFC North. That is, of course, while they were studying for their exam against the Patriots this week.

Baltimore vs. Buffalo

Buffalo?s Drew Bledsoe threw four interceptions, fumbled, and his running backs still have yet to run one into the end zone. The Bills conjured up 270 yards but only six points, while the Ravens accumulated 160 yards and 20 points, making statistics just numbers on paper again when discussing the 2004 Ravens. If there is an Achilles heal to this team it?s Kyle Boller who?s numbers were: 10-19 for 86yards, losing 26 yards after being sacked four times on Sunday, no interceptions and no touchdowns. But these games are still ?learning experiences? for Boller, and with Anthony Wright still recovering from injuries, school will be in full session on Sunday vs. the Eagles.

Jonathan Ogden is the latest name to be added to the injury list, but head coach Brian Billick has showed some impressive resolve when it comes to availability issues, another back up as starter Chester Taylor out ran both Willis McGahee and Travis Henry with 89 yards, and the Ravens continue to show great focus in the face of adversity. Don?t check the record, the needle isn?t skipping, as the old saying goes, defense wins championships, and the team that can run the ball usually wins the game.

Philadelphia vs. Cleveland

Terrell Owens says he spends his free time creating new touch down celebrations, evidently he?s scored too many to come up with something new, or was just saving them for a better time. Where are the sharpies, the pom-poms, to just rip down a sign or spike the ball is just, well, boring. Cleveland shocked the Eagles by figuring out that the Eagles run defense isn?t very good, giving up around 4.9 yards a rush and 113 yards a game. As time ran out the Browns found themselves in an unfamiliar setting, over time, and if you look closely at the faces of Jeff Garcia and Butch Davis, their expressions left you to wonder if they?d ever practiced for such a scenario.

On fourth down, the Browns tried to make the Eagles jump off sides, but with seven seconds left of the play clock, Jeff Garcia turned and called a time out. Seven Seconds? Add that to the list of things to cover during the bye week, along with keeping fullback Terrelle Smith in the whole game cause right now he?s one of the best players on this team.

The Browns at 3-4 are in very familiar territory; it?s been this way for the last two years, going 9-7 and to the playoffs one year, and 5-11 and the bottom of the division last year. The Browns will have week off to prepare for a rematch of their season opener against the Ravens next Sunday night, and to get newly acquired wide receiver Antonio Bryant on the same page with quarterback Jeff Garcia.

Denver vs. Cincinnati

The Bengal?s defense did their homework over the bye week, and the Broncos didn?t. Three turnovers later and the Bengals ran to victory on the legs or Rudi Johnson for only the second time this year. The Broncos not only couldn?t find the end zone Monday night, they couldn?t themselves on the field. Jake Plummer threw two interceptions, and Rueben Droughns coughed one up, making his third straight hundred yard game bitter sweet.

For the Bengals, starting quarterback Carson Palmer went 12-21 for 198 yards with a touchdown and an interception, but it was Rudi Johnson?s 119 yards rushing and one touchdown that maintained the Bengals offense. Denver was simply beaten and didn?t make the proper adjustments at halftime to take momentum and get back into the game. For the Bengals, however, they?ll take a win no matter what circumstance.

A look ahead at this week's games.

New England Vs Pittsburgh

The fighting words are all ready being exchanged for this match up. New England says they?ve won 21 in a row, while the Steelers say Ben Roethlisberger has won four in a row. The Pats retort by pointing out that Tom Brady has won 21 in a row, and the Steelers dug up Big Ben?s college records and say he?s won 18 in a row. You have to love the bite of the 5-1 Steelers. They?re playing inspired football and it?s not just one player. It?s been a team effort that?s gotten them to first place in AFC North. The Steelers have the advantage of a week off to prepare for what could be a preview of the playoffs.

Baltimore vs. Philadelphia

The Ravens can?t let this game rest in the hands of Donovan McNabb, and they must shut down T.O.. And, they have the defense to do it. This could be a preview of the playoffs, if the Ravens can continue to win games on defense. If Baltimore can continue to run the ball effectively, the Eagles will have their work cut out for them, but if too much pressure is put on Kyle Boller, well, that?s another story.

Cincinnati vs. Tennessee

The Titans are shockingly 2-5; while the Bengals seem to always beat the bottom. If Chad Johnson?s remarks offer any insight at all, it?s that the Bengals could suffer the same delusions as the Broncos did Monday night -- overlooking their midterm exam, which would be par for the course. The Bengals must shut down Chris Brown, and have audio tapes of Monday nights crowd pumped into their helmets to inspire the level of play they showed in their win over the Broncos. Staying on the positive side of turnovers and giving Carson Palmer time in the pocket also wouldn?t hurt.
