On a day that could have been labeled "Black Sunday" for the NFL the New England Patriots took the victory in a game that I called "a must" win last week. Unfortunately, it was done at a cost, as Heinz Field once again proved to be injury central for the Pats.

This time the Pats lose S Rodney Harrison, OL Matt Light and RB Kevin Faulk for what could be career and season ending injuries. The Harrison injury was just ugly, and was seen by millions of viewers Sunday afternoon. Matt's was just as bad, but for some reason we were spared the replays of his injury. The extent of Faulk's injury wasn't released until yesterday when the Pats signed former Steeler RB Amos Zereoue.

This week the Chargers are coming to town and even though they are 1-2 for the season so far they boast a very good offensive attack with RB LaDainian Tomlinson,  WR Keenan McCardell and TE Antonio Gates. The question is if they can outsmart Billy B and his coaching finesse.

The guys will have to step it up for another "must win" game.

Former Steeler Chad Scott had to step up his game, and did so, despite being called for a questionable pass interference late in the fourth quarter.

Light was substituted with rookie Nick Kaczur, and on the first play the Steelers sent a two man blitz on his side. The replay was almost hilarious as you saw Nick trying to decide which guy to defend as they slipped past and almost got to Brady. At that point I thought it was going to be a long day, but Kaczur bounced back with Mankins alongside him, and held the fort for the rest of the game. There was one play I got off an eight second count as Brady delivered a pass late in the fourth.

Overall, Sunday's game showed how this team continues to beat the odds with great teamwork. This Sunday they'll need the same effort once again as the Patriots will be fighting an uphill battle and taking a backseat to the MLB excitement in the area as the New York Yankees come to town starting tonight for a three-game stint to finish out the season. Right now, The Yanks are one game up, and the Boston Red Sox are tied with the Cleveland Indians. In order to make the post season the Sox will have take at least two of these games from the Yankees.

Let's just say the Red Sox nation is a bit upset that the Sox lost the lead on the race for the pennant, and some are actually surprised that this happened. In my opinion, if you are surprised, then you don't deserve to be part of the Nation. This is Red Sox baseball, it's September and to be honest; when the MLB schedule was announced earlier this spring everyone should have saw this coming a mile away. Come on!!! The Sox were opening and finishing the season with the Yankees on tap I knew things were going to go this way, and to be honest...

Would we here in New England want it any other way?
