Keith Hayes got his love for writing in the 6th grade where he began writing sci-fi stories for classmates and friends, while continuing to write over the years as a personal hobby.
In 1991 after purchasing WebTV, he caught the Internet bug and began writing on various message boards and newsgroups under the pseudonym Mista Sinista. His posts became popular as he covered movie reviews, the New England Patriots, WCW and WWE (formerly WWF) wrestling. Just do a Google search for Mista Sinista or Sinista1 under groups, and you'll discover enough material to read for months.
As his debating talents developed online, he became vocal in his local newspaper, the Enterprise. He began submitting Letters to the Editor, and most of his pieces were printed on a regular basis. He also had similar success with his letters to the early years of Patriots Football Weekly. After generating some buzz and catching the eyes of readers, Keith was contacted to write for wrestling web site Wrestlenutz.com. He was then later contacted to write for a New England Patriots fan website PatriotsFootball.com, which is now known as PatsFans.com.
When covering the Pats, Keith kept his Mista Sinista attitude and reviewed the games with his "tell it like it is" style. The Patriots experience soon took off, and allowed him to meet various players, travel to a Pro Bowl in Hawaii, a Super Bowl in New Orleans, several away games in the Meadowlands, and some great games in Foxboro, where he has been a season ticket holder since 1990.
Today, he covers the New England Patriots for eSports and as a 12th Man correspondent for PatsFans.com. You can read his political and local debates on his hometown site Brockton Forums. But for a real treat, you can also see the twisted side on his moniker web site Sinista1.com, where he has some great spoofs like "Barbie and Ken's True Hollywood Story," and "Celebrity Survivor."
Most recently, Keith has become a co-host on two hit radio shows at WXBR 1460 AM in Brockton (formerly WBET). On Fridays, Keith can be heard during the "On the Mark PI Show," with his host Private Investigator Mark Chauppetta, who has his own reality television show in negotiations, and a role in the upcoming horror film Frightworld where he plays an FBI Agent hunting a serial killer who has killed his wife.
Keith is now following in his host’s footsteps after scoring a part in Walt Disney's upcoming movie "The Game Plan," starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. In the movie, Keith plays a football player on QB Joe Kingman’s (Dwayne's character) Boston Rebels rival team the New York Dukes. Also joining Keith on the show is defense attorney Ken Diesenhof, and Brockton Police Officer Frank "Czman".
On Saturdays, Keith can be heard during "Krashing Into the Bigfield/The Lock Up" from noon to 4 p.m. talking sports with Enterprise writer Kevin Tocci, and aspiring actor Tom Mariano, cousin to "Boston Rob" of "Survivor/Amazing Race" fame. The show also features guests Matt Futrell, Peter Czymbor, Dennis Harris, and is produced by former Indie wrestler Mike Pavia. The South Shore Sports Show is growing, as the first two hours cover sports (professional and local), while the second two hours cover the best talk in professional and Indie wrestling.
eSports Keith Hayes is ready for the NFL playoffs. Here are his thoughts on this weekend's Wild Card games.
This is what sums up my feeling on the upcoming NFL weekend after going to NY and watching the New England Patriots embarrass the New York Jets, then lay waste to the San Francisco 49'ers in a season finale at home.
Some people are delusional and don't think the Pats can get past the Indianapolis Colts or the Pittsburgh Steelers, but as far as I'm concerned -- you don't go 14-2 for the season back to back, and not feel like you've accomplished something.
This is a special team, and it's one of those things fans won't be able to appreciate until years later like this year's Boston Red Sox.
The Pats have a bye, and after watching RB Corey Dillon trample the Niners with a small amount of carries solidifies my feelings about the playoffs and how the running game plays a vital role. If you control the ground game, you control the flow and the clock, and as RB Terrell Davis said this week.
"It demoralizes defenses."
Once you have a good running game, your defense needs to be on point. The Pats secondary has been suspect as I have said many times before, and stopping the run has been there when needed. If Ty Law is healthy, I'm sure his personal trainer will have him ready, as he is when he returns from the off-season. If Ty can come back to this secondary and become an immediate threat I'm sure he will get the money he is looking for from this team, but he may have to live with a franchise tag until they can figure out the deal.
The return of Richard Seymour will also have an impact, as he will keep teams honest, and QB's worried.
The Pats will also need to continue to have great play from players like FB Patrick Pass and TE Jeff Weaver who have stepped it up. After my whining all season the special teams has finally stepped up, and made some HUGE plays last week. This is something that will help Brady or the D when looking at field position.
Lastly, the coaching staff knows what it has to do, and I'm sure OC Charlie Weis will want to impress those awaiting his arrival in South Bend. Let's just hope it involves a running attack that will give Corey the props he's deserved for the last seven years.
So, let's look at the upcoming wildcard games for Saturday.
In the NFC the St. Louis Rams snuck into the playoffs and have to defeat the Seattle Seahawks at home. The Rams could be the upset of the weekend, they have a budding RB star with the likes of Steven Jackson, and after last weekend there seems to be problems behind closed doors with HC Mike Holmgren and RB Shawn Alexander. If these problems are still ripe come Saturday the Seahawks wings may get clipped setting up the Rams for a trip to Atlanta.
The AFC has a Jets' team that is struggling to find their identity this season, but they are going to have to wait until next season because I don't think there is anyway they are going to stop QB Drew Braes and RB LT's attack. The Jets play sloppy football, and after my trip to NY I don't think their fans deserve it after watching the stadium clear out with 14 minutes to go in the 4th quarter. No fan support, no Super Bowl title. A Charger win will ship them off to the cold confines of Pittsburgh where the elements may play a big part to a match up that I believe they can win if the temps allow it.
The NFC on Sunday has the Vikings going to Lambeau Field and trying to stop QB Brett Farvre. This is a QB who can do some damage in the playoffs, and god forbid if something happens to a family member from this time until Sunday. If I had to pick a winner I would say the Packers because they have the better defense, and may be able to hold down WR Randy Moss who also had some controversy last weekend.
The AFC on Sunday will be a shootout, possibly the highest scoring game of the weekend when the Broncos head into the RCA Dome for a match-up against the Colts. Both teams lack defenses that bolster weak a secondary, and if the Colts want to get ready for their match-up with the Pats they should run RB The Edge when given the chance this weekend. A rusty James will be no good come Foxboro time. QB Peyton Manning will have his 11th indoor game of the season, and feel right at home within his confines, I'm sure he is itching to dispatch the Broncos and set up a return match with the Patriots. This was probably a thorn in his side all off-season, and I'm sure he's wondering if Ty will be back. See you next Sunday Peyton!
