Maybe he felt it wasn't time yet, or maybe he was in deep denial. But whatever the reason, why did it take Mark McGwire so long to admiit what some of the rest of us all ready knew or suspected? That he was using some kind of performance enhancing drugs?

Mark, we really didn't know you.

Just when we had been "Tiger Woods" to death, here comes another surprise… or maybe not.

But we can now add Mark McGwire to that list of baseball players who are on that infamous list of steroids users.

Yes, the list of players that may or may not be on that list who took performance enhancing drugs.

Who can forget, five years ago, in front of the Mitchell hearings in Washington, when asked if he did nor he didn't, "Big Mac" sat in front of the committee and stated: "I'm not here to talk about the past."

Funny thing about the past though…

It sure has a way of coming back to bite you in the you know where.

Now that he is a coach for the St. Louis Cardinals, people won't just be wondering about his records, or lack of them, but how he will be received not only on his home field, but also in cities his team will be visiting.

The reaction just might be a mixture of "Oh no, not McGwire" to "I told you so."

What ever the reaction, baseball fans and non fans alike want to know one thing: What took him so long?
