Michael Vick is a football player without a team. After spending time in jail, will he remember how he got to this point and never forget it was the company that he kept that got him there?

Does Vick deserve to have a second chance?

Michael Vick has been released from jail and is now under house arrest at his home in Virginia.

On June 11th, he was told by his former team, the Atlanta Falcons that his services were now longer needed. He's now a man without a team.

Two years ago, I wrote an article for e-sports about Vick called, "The Company that you Keep." (http://www.e-sports.com/articles/1927/1/The-company-you-keep/Page1.html)

Two years later, the same thing that your mother always told you holds true. You still are being judge by the company you keep.

Now that he's out of jail, just what has he learned? Does he deserve to have a second chance? Yes.

Does he belong on some NFL or CFL team? Sure, he does.

He might look very good in Oakland Raiders colors or on the Montreal Alouettes. But the question remains - What lesson has he learned?

You are judged by the company you keep. Doing public service announcements for animal cruelty is a first step and as an animal lover and owner, I applaud that.

If proving yourself means you have to stay away from the very people who got you into this mess in the first place, even if they are friends and especially family, do it. Stay as far away from them as you can.

Vick is – and always will be – judged by the company he keeps.
