The 2007-2008 hockey season is over and once again it's time for the annual thank you awards.

First of all, congratulations to the Detroit Red Wings for winning the Stanley Cup.
The Red Wings and the Pittsburgh Penguins get the first thank you award for this year for giving die hard and casual hockey fans one of the most entertaining and exciting Stanley Cup Finals in recent years.

Dominik Hasek, Detroit Red Wings
A Vezina Trophy for goaltending, a gold medal for the Czech republic in the Winter Olympics and now another Stanley Cup. After 16 years in the league, enjoy your retirement.

Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh Penguins and Alex Ovechkin, Washington Capitals
For providing hockey fans with a lot of something to talk about this hockey season.

Chris Chelios, Detroit Red Wings
Forget those 20-somethings like Crosby and Ovechkin. At age 46 and in your 24th year in the league, you're still rocking like a hurricane. And great news for hockey fans, you might be coming back for year 27.

Olaf Kolzig, Washington Capitals
A very big thank you for your work with Autistic children, one of whom is your own.

A thank you to those hockey media directors who once again allowed me to invade their locker rooms for those game related interviews and stories. Thanks again as always.

Finally, a great big thank you to the fans of the NHL.
In some cities like Washington, you were rewarded with something you hadn't had in years – an exciting hockey club that was actually winning and made it to the Stanley Cup playoffs.

See you all again in September.
