He's in his fourth season in the NHL, and he's not your typical hockey player. His black and gold Pittsburgh Penguins' uniform hides his tattoos – too many to count on two hands. And that hair and playoff beard – it’s so red!

He is the first Pittsburgh native to be picked by the Penguins and it’s only natural that the 28-year old Ryan Malone is playing in a building where he and his brother, Mark, spent most of their childhood.

His father, Gregg played for the Penguins and is now a scout for them. Malone honors his father by wearing his No. 12.

While being overshadowed by his more flashier teammates, Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, Malone is also a fan favorite in the “Steel City.” Just count the number of Malone jerseys being worn at a Penguins home game, and it's not just due to the fact that he was born in Pittsburgh. They love his rough and tumble style of playing.

In the second period of game four of the Stanley Cup Finals against Detroit, a three overtime thriller won by the Penguins, Malone left the ice with a broken nose, but returned to finish the game.

If the Penguins come back to win the Stanley Cup, (Detroit has a 3-2 game lead right now), Malone will be proud to show off the Stanley Cup to a town that is equally as proud of one of their on.
