Rob Hatch is just a 24-year old football fan. He is a certified K-8 teacher in New Jersey, and thinks that, one day, he would like to write columns about the NFL professionally. He writes columns, mock drafts and fantasy analysis for fun, and figured posting on eSports would be a swell thing to do.
View all articles by Rob HatchThe NFC East is my most hated division, but I must not let my personal biases get the best of me. I still must make predictions. Are the Dallas Cowboys the focus of the media for playoff potential or Terrell Owens? Who would you take first, Eli or Tiki? Reggie Brown could be a force in Philly and the Redskins are the team to beat or are they? Enjoy the analysis that follows.
Dallas Cowboys
Stud: Terrell Owens, WR. Hush, I would hate to say it, but he could easily have 1,000 yards and 10 scores this year. Drew Bledsoe is a pocket passer and isn't as mobile as Donovan McNabb, but T.O. has the knack for getting open quick. I also think the opposing secondaries in this division are a little overrated.
Dud: Julius Jones, RB. Sure he will get you 900+ yards, but fumbles too often (7 times/2years), and is very injury prone just like his brother Thomas. The guy has talent but too risky. Not to mention, rookie Marion Barber looked darn good last year.
Sleeper: Patrick Crayton, WR.
New York Giants
Stud: Tiki Barber, RB. I don't expect an unreal year like last season, but easily expected for 1,200 yards and 8-12 TDS. Barber is by far the most consistent Giants offensive player in the past 5+ years.
Dud: Tim Carter, WR. Probably the fastest guy on the team, but coaches aren't impressed with his limited ability in pass catching, route running and durability. Look for Sinorice Moss to take over the #3 slot position.
Sleeper: Eli Manning, QB.
Philadelphia Eagles
Stud: Reggie Brown, WR. This is a reach, but with McNabb coming off injury and Brian Westbrook showing he can't handle 25 carries a game, I have to go with Brown. He had the second most catches for a rookie last year (43) and led all rookies with 20 yard+ receptions with 10. He really did step up nicely considering the Eagles offense last year.
Dud: L.J. Smith, TE. Has talent, speed and intensity. Drops too many balls and is injury prone.
Sleeper: Ryan Moats, RB.
Washington Redskins
Stud: Clinton Portis, RB. Its obvious Portis is now comfortable in the Redskins offense. In 2005, he had 200 more yards rushing and 6 more scores than in 2004. He is a top 5 running back selection in my opinion.
Dud: Mark Brunell, QB. This is one of those instances where an older quarterback has a solid year and follows it with either a dismal year or is put on the I.R. Something tells me a lot of the Redskins fortune last year was a little lucky. I know this will aggravate 'Skins fans, but lets face the facts here. Everyone is expecting the Redskins passing offense to be even better with the addition of Randel El and Brandon Lloyd to the Wide Receiving corps and Santana Moss still running the show. We all know the opposite is going to happen. Jason Campbell might find playing time before he knows it if Brunell goes down with an injury.
Sleeper: Brandon Lloyd, WR.
