The AFC West will be interesting to watch this season. The Denver Broncos don't have elite players to consider for a fantasy team, but they do have a few players who put up numbers and do their job quietly and efficiently. I'm also still waiting for the first person to not jump on the Larry Johnson bandwagon. However, LaDainian Tomlinson is still number one in my book!

Denver Broncos

Stud: Tatum Bell, RB. I am willing to put money down that this guy now has his fair shot at being the starter. I predict 1,300 yards with at least 13 touchdowns. Mike Anderson is gone, which opens up some breathing room and people still think Ron Dayne will end up splitting time with Bell! One great Thanksgiving Day run against the Cowboys in '05 doesn't change my mind in Dayne's case.

Dud: Ashley Lelie, WR. He's looking to get out of Denver and seems to only know how to run a deep pattern. Rod Smith although aging, has shown little signs of it. Jake Plummer also likes to use his tight ends a lot.

Sleeper: Chad Jackson, WR.

Kansas City Chiefs

Stud: Larry Johnson, RB. The obvious choice, but he still isn't the number one back in my draft this year. Everyone is going nuts for this guy. I'm impressed by his stats last year, especially since he is a Penn State running back who actually succeeded. Seriously though, one great season doesn't earn you a top position on my draft board. Let's see if he can keep it up. I still see 1,000 yards and the end zone 12 times, but nothing like last year. Are people forgetting the team lost their best fullback they have had in 20 years? Tony Richardson.

Dud: Priest Holmes, RB. I didn't take him last year in the draft fearing he would get hurt, so I took Larry Johnson as my third Running back in the ninth round. Panned out pretty well.

Sleeper: Tony Gonzalez, TE.

Oakland Raiders

Stud: Lamont Jordan, RB. Pure workhorse. Although his fumbling habits are still a concern, you know this guy will run the ball 20 times a game and catch about 5-7 passes. He had 11 total scores last year and that was only in 14 games. I only expect his numbers to increase in Oakland.

Dud: Aaron Brooks, QB. Bonehead after bonehead play is the end result of a game Brooks is playing in. Remember years ago when the Saints were trying to figure out whom to start between Aaron Brooks and Jeff Blake. Well, I rest my case. Andrew Walter will be the Raiders starter by week 8, mark my words! No knock on Randy Moss or Jerry Porter, but Jerry Rice and Cris Carter couldn't help Brooks' lack of talent.

Sleeper: Jerry Porter, WR.

San Diego Chargers

Stud: LaDainian Tomlinson, RB. He is still at the top of my list for the past years in fantasy. He does it all. Yes, his numbers took a pitfall last year, but with Philip Rivers coming in, look for Tomlinson to cap 1,700 yards just running the ball. As for receptions, I expect him to climb up there just like he did in 2004 with 100 receptions on the year.

Dud: Philip Rivers, QB. Again, dud wouldn't the best word to describe him, but I think he will have some difficulty. I like Rivers and think he can be a solid quarterback in this league. However, defenses are going to be sending blitzes from every which way confusing and jawing him in the face. Look how long it took Drew Brees to settle into this offense. I'm not saying Rivers will be a Ryan Leaf, but I don't expect a Brees like the past two years either.

Sleeper: Vincent Jackson, WR.
