The 12th Annual Reebok Big Time Tournament, the nation's largest and most prestigious boys prep summer basketball tournament, will be held July 22-26, 2006 in Las Vegas. The tournament, founded by basketball legend Sonny Vaccaro, will feature more than 300 teams from around the country, as well as Canada and Belgium. They will all be competing to be the "Champions of Summer." Highlights of this year's tournament will be the focus of a nationally televised special on CSTV.
For the second year, the tournament will include Rbk Elite 8 match-up games, where the top 8 seeded teams will play one another in the first round. These games will be held July 22-23 at Foothill High School in Henderson, Nev. Spiece Indy Heat, out of Indianapolis, Ind., and the winner of back-to-back Big Time titles, returns to defend its trophy.
"We have tremendous teams returning and new teams that will be equally impressive," said Reebok's Senior Director of Grassroots Basketball Sonny Vaccaro. "Big Time gives top-tier teams from the U.S. and abroad an opportunity to play against serious competition. Now that Spiece Indy Heat’s Greg Oden has graduated, the next great team leader will emerge."
The "Champions of Summer" will be crowned in five different divisions: Open, A, B, C, and the High School category. All championship games will be held at Foothill High School on Wednesday, July 26. The Open Division championship game will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Besides Foothill HS, the other 11 schools hosting the 755 Reebok Big Time games on 22 total courts are Green Valley High School, Basic High School, Boulder City High School, Coronado High School, Del Sol High School, Liberty High School, Mojave High School, Palo Verde High School, Silverado High School, Mannion Middle School and Miller Middle School.
Daily general admission tickets are $10 each and will be good for all games at all sites. Tickets will be available at the door at each site.
