There were many moves made this off season by the the New York Mets that should help the team fill some trouble spots that appeared last season.

Bringing in Carlos Delgado was probably their best move. With 33 homers and 115 RBIs last year, Delgado is a monster. If he can pull those same numbers in Shea stadium this year, people will love him. He is a power hitter who can also play first decently, a place the Mets were having a lot of heartaches last season.

The next solid move by the Mets is Billy Wagner. Wagner has the fast ball like no other pitch in baseball. He can bring the saves into the Mets organization, which sounds awfully weird because they have always had a problem with that bullpen. Gosh, it is a great thing that Braden Looper is out the door. He needed to go and now the Mets have a solid closer thanks to the acquisition of Wagner.

You are not used to seeing the Mets do so well in the offseason with the catcher role. The way they were able to replace Mike Piazza at catcher with new acquistion Paul Lo Duca, shows that New York is series about having a great year this season. Yeah, he won’t hit for power, but he is very good at playing the position. So they won’t be having any trouble with throwing runners out.

Now it’s time to just talk about the guys that have already been with the team. Guys like Jose Reyes and Cliff Floyd are in for a big year now that the Mets have filled all of the position holes, except for second base where Kaz Matsui still stands having no idea what to do. He is simply not the best fit for the Mets and he should be gone from the team.

David Wright is the next big thing on this club. He has so much potential, with 27 homers and 102 RBIs last year. It would be awesome to see a 40-home run season out of this kid. It's certainly no joke that he could make an argument, pending his performance during the year, for the MVP. Yeah, that’s the kind of player he is.

The thing to most admire about New York's off season was that they were able to fill the spots where they were incredibly weak last season.

So, in a nutshel,l that was the Met’s off season. Let’s all sit back and relax until spring break is over and then enjoy the season!!
