Although I love my job as an accoutant I love sports more. My favorite teams are the New Jersey Devils and the New York Yankees. Originally from New Jersey I now reside in Southern California.

As this Thanksgiving holiday comes to a conclusion, it is time to give thanks for the things that I am thankful for.

Thanksgiving is a time for food, football, family and thanks.

Thanksgiving is a great holiday; if not for the food alone, but it also is a break from the stress and chaos that is called work (also if you are lucky to get the Friday after off, it can be extra special).

So for the holiday that is associated with food, football and family, it also is a reflection of what one is thankful for. As this Thanksgiving weekend comes to an end, I am thankful for…

* The return of hockey. Even if some of the new rules have changed the game, I’m just thankful for the return to the ice. My family and I went to the Anaheim Mighty Ducks game on Friday and once inside the arena, I felt home. The cold chill of the ice, the fast-paced skating of the players, and the acrobatic saves by the goalies were all too perfect. If only the New Jersey Devils had been playing.

* Notre Dame football. I have never followed a college team closely game after game as I have with the Irish this season. During Charlie Weiss’ first season as coach, Brady Quinn and the Fighting Irish are headed for a BCS bowl game. Just don’t let D.J. Fitzpatrick kick the field goals.

* LaDainian Tomlinson. With his three touchdown runs against the Washington Redskins on Sunday, LT and his MVP skills are keeping the San Diego Charger’s playoff hopes alive. He is also associating the name LT with football rather than the other LT and his off the field antics.

* The Skins’ Game. Every Thanksgiving weekend, I watch the event that Fred Couples has dominated during the past 12 years, even if this year the only Fred that was winning is Funk.

* Carolina Panthers, San Diego Chargers, Indianapolis Colts, Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs for beating the New England Patriots and showing that Tom Brady is overrated and just a pretty boy in a beanie.

* "Mike and Mike in the Morning" on ESPNNews. Listening to nasally Mike Greenberg and watching Mike Golic, who strangely resembles Jeff Garlin from Curb your Enthusiasm, is a great way to wake up each morning.

* Some misc. thanks… James Hetfield, "Grey’s Anatomy," "Reunion," Tom Morello, Joaquin Phoenix, Will Ferrell, Vince Vaughn, Andre Agassi, Mariano Rivera, Drew Bledsoe, and of course, Martin Brodeur.

So as the season of thanks nears its conclusion, do not forget to pay your respects to those you are thankful for.
